Philosophy

Everyone wants great wedding pictures that tell the story of the day. In addition, wouldn't it be nice to have some stunning portraits of the two of you? But who wants to spend all afternoon away from your guests missing all the fun? I certainly wouldn't!

I've decided to give my clients a great balance between documentary story telling and modern stylish portraiture that doesn't take all day. I spend the whole day shooting in the background; I blend in with your guests and shoot in a purely documentary style. I also spend 10-15 minutes getting some great pictures of the two of you together, no fuss, nothing forced just timeless, natural pictures. The result is a set of stunning photographs that you can enjoy in years to come, reliving the day with beautiful images and, looking the best you've ever looked!..Sound good?

Biography

I started taking pictures when I was about 6, my Dad always had cameras and I would borrow them. I have always had a huge passion for photography, particularly documentary. I attended the prestigious Bournemouth & Poole College of Art, students come from all over the world to attend. I was there for three years and studied to post-grad level. In my final year, I was under the mentorship of famed Art Director Vaughan Oliver, during this time I worked heavily on developing a personal style. A style which still holds me in good stead today..My interest in wedding photography came after I shot the wedding of a friend. I enjoyed the story telling aspect of it and loved being a fly on the wall. People raved about the pictures and pretty soon I was photographing more and more of my friends! It just snowballed from there. I became a full time wedding photographer in 1997 and I now shoot weddings exclusively and travel all over the world to photograph them. I've photographed hundreds of weddings. To me there's no better job in the world. For my latest work and news - please take a look at my blog.

Weddings

I shoot all kinds of weddings, from Civil ceremonies to Church services, from Jewish to Asian weddings. I travel all over the UK and also cover destination weddings further a field. I've undertaken wedding photography in France, Italy, Ireland, Belgium, Spain, Germany and even Kazahstan. I also shoot a large amount of winter weddings. It's easy to take great pictures in gorgeous sunshine but what if it rains all day or it gets dark at 3pm? Winter weddings have a unique quality; candlelight, roaring fires, cosy rooms and low winter light all give winter weddings a beautifully intimate feel which is very different from shooting in the summer. I love shooting during this time, I prefer natural light when shooting and very rarely use flash.

I like to recommend suppliers I've worked with. If someone goes above and beyond your expectations, they're worth shouting about. The vendors listed here go that extra mile for their brides and no one gets onto this list unless they impress!

The importance of memories

If your house was on fire what would you grab? Most people say photographs because pictures aren't just paper, they're pieces of memory. The great times we've had, our tiny children that grow up so fast and the people who aren't here anymore. Pictures are so important. Every year I'm contacted by lots of brides who were not happy with their wedding pictures. More often than not, they got a friend to shoot them. Sure it costs less financially but what did it cost them personally? You spend so long planning this day, so long looking forward to it - and it goes so very quickly! The only thing you'll have left at the end are your memories and your pictures. Good wedding photography is achieved through a very specialized set of skills combined with experience - experience and skills that well intentioned friends just do not have. If you decided to have a friend shoot your pictures and they're not as magical as they should be, please get in touch for a "day after" session.
